Paul Bergeron talked about President Andrew Johnson. He argued that President Johnson is unfairly judged outside of the context of his times or through a partisan lens. Based on his work as the editor of The Papers of Andrew Johnson, Mr. Bergeron argued that President Johnson had the more difficult task of winning the peace following the Civil War. He also spoke about his relationship with President Lincoln and views on the Civil War, race, and the Constitution.
