Panelists talked about Defense Department spending and the looming sequestration cuts. They unveiled the results of a recently-conducted survey in which Americans were given defense budgeting information and were asked to create their own Pentagon budget. On average, the survey respondents cut 18 percent in spending to the defense budget. Sequestration would cut an additional $500 billion over a decade on top of the $487 billion of cuts agreed to under the Budget Control Act. close
