Telephone lines were open for comments on the question, “Why does Congress 'kick the can?'”

The question referred to the inability of the 112th Congress to make difficult decisions on pressing tax policy and budget issues. A montage of senators and representatives using the phrase “kick the can down the road” was shown.

Steven Sloan was interviewed by phone about the financial implications of Congress leaving the for a five-week summer recess as tax and sequestration issues were still unresolved.

Don Sloan talked about the 112th Congress in comparison to others, specifically on compromise and productivity. He also discussed the history of the Senate filibuster. close
