Panelists discussed job training and the most cost-effective way to implement job training programs. Topics focused on the macroeconomic issues that are affecting the U.S. economy. It was stressed that economic ups-and-downs are natural in economic cycles; some industries will boom and then fall apart. Economic policy implemented by the government, either through the Federal Reserve or Congressional legislation, can help to lessen the ups-and-downs or extend the effects over a longer period of time; however, it is unlikely government intervention alone will completely stop an economic fallout. close
