The House Armed Services Committee Defense Policy Panel heard testimony on methods to enforce the U.N. resolutions concerning Iraq without resorting to the use of force by a military power. Issues raised in the hearing including strengthening economic sanctions against Iraq and aiding the democratic opposition in Iraq. The committee also sought to hear information on non-military means of removing Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein from power. close
