Lonnie Bunch, the director of the Smithsonian’s National Museum of African American History and Culture, and curator Elaine Nichols introduced the Civil Rights Oral History Project. Initiated by Congress in 2009, the project was conducted by the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture, the Library of Congress, and the Southern Oral History Program at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. They also talked about the June 6, 2011, oral history interview with the Reverend Joseph Lowery. close
