Federal Emergency Management Administration (FEMA), Homeland Security, and local officials testified on the steps they took in preparation for the April 15, 2013, Boston Marathon and their response to the bombings that occurred. Topics included improvements needed in the rate at which the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) shared information about terrorist threats with local law enforcement, improvements needed in communications technology as cell phones were rendered useless, and what hospitals could do to be better prepared.
