President Kennedy spoke before the United Nations General Assembly, for what would be his last address to that body, on September 20th, 1963. The president noted that the delegates were meeting “in an atmosphere of rising hope.” He spoke of limiting nuclear arms, of nurturing worldwide human rights, and of the space race evolving into joint exploration with the Soviet Union.
