C-SPAN’s Local Content Vehicles (LCVs) made a stop in their “2013 LCV Cities Tour” in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, from November 4-7 to feature the history and literary life of the community. Working with the Time Warner Cable local affiliate, they visited literary and historic sites where local historians, authors, and civic leaders were interviewed. The history segments air on American History TV (AHTV) on C-SPAN3 and the literary events/non-fiction author segments air on BookTV on C-SPAN2.

Dan Gookin talked about the beginning of the …For Dummies book series. Mr. Gookin was the series' first author. In 1989, Gookin had the idea for a different kind of reference book but was having difficulty getting it published. The book was eventually picked up by a tech publishing company who agreed to print only 7,500 copies and released the books in 1991. Today, there are more than 250 million books in print and over 1,800 titles.
