Tory Johnston, Vice President of Marketing and New Business Development for Chattanooga Bakery, Inc., talked about the history and making of the Moon Pie, a confection made from two round graham cracker cookies, a marshmallow filling, and a flavored coating. The Moon Pie has been in production since 1917, and it has been estimated that there have been at least 3 billion moon pies consumed since then.

C-SPAN’s Local Content Vehicles (LCVs) made a stop in their “2013 LCV Cities Tour” in Chattanooga, Tennessee, from December 15-19 to feature the history and literary life of the community. Working with the Comcast local affiliate, they visited literary and historic sites where local historians, authors, and civic leaders were interviewed. The history segments air on American History TV (AHTV) on C-SPAN3 and the literary events/non-fiction author segments air on BookTV on C-SPAN2. close
