President Obama held a news conference following his phone conversation earlier in the day with Russian President Vladimir Putin. He talked about the U.S economy and jobs, efforts in Congress to approve a revised border security supplemental spending bill, the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, and the conflict between Russia and Ukraine. The president also spoke about the CIA’s interrogation tactics after the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, telling reporters, “We tortured some folks.” He added, however, that he stood behind CIA Director John Brennan in response to calls for his resignation over agency spying on the Senate Intelligence Committee. close
