Rick Conwell talked about the Battle of Tippecanoe and how it impacted westward expansion. William Henry Harrison led forces against a growing group of Native Americans living in Prophetstown, a village located in the Wabash valley. On the night of November 7, 1811, the group of native americans, led by Tecumseh and his brother Tenskwatawa, attacked U.S. forces camped outside of Prophetstown. The battle was seen as a catalyst for the War of 1812, and was used as part of a campaign slogan during William Henry Harrison’s 1840 presidential campaign.

C-SPAN’s Local Content Vehicles (LCVs) made a stop in their “2014 LCV Cities Tour” in Lafayette and West Lafayette, Indiana, from November 16-20 to feature the history and literary life of the community. Working with the Comcast cable local affiliate, they visited literary and historic sites where local historians, authors, and civic leaders were interviewed. close
