Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) announced that he would allow a vote on a bill that contains only authorization for funding the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) through the end of fiscal year 2016. A separate vote on the Collins bill, legislation that would prevent President Obama’s executive actions on immigration from taking effect, was scheduled for February 27, 2015. The Senate four times previously had tried and failed to end debate on a bill that would have both funded DHS and blocked the president’s executive action. close
