Ben Affleck, Bill Gates, and other witnesses testified at a hearing on diplomacy and foreign aid. They talked about the work being done in Africa, and the value of continuing to invest in countries there, such as avoiding the emergence of a new pandemic. Examples of why threatened cuts should not be made in the foreign aid budget included the prospect of wiping out polio in Africa with a few more years of continued effort. close
