In an excerpt, the House considered whether to override President Bush’s veto of S.12, the Cable Television Regulation and Consumer Protection Act. This legislation would reregulate the cable television industry with the intent to keep the charge for basic cable service down, and to boost competition between cable companies. Later, the House voted to override the president’s veto by a vote of 308 yeas to 114 nays. close
