The House Budget Committee met to work on draft legislation for the fiscal year 1994 budget resolution. The House measure would require $63 billion more in spending cuts over the next five years than were specified by President Clinton. Republican proposals for the budget which would allegedly cut $429 billion from the deficit over five years on the spending sides alone were rejected by the committee, as were Republican sponsored amendments that would eliminate expensive projects such as the space station Freedom and the superconducting-supercollider in Texas. close
