President Clinton introduced Janet Reno, who was confirmed by the Senate yesterday to be the United States Attorney General. Two days ago the Senate Judiciary Committee approved Janet Reno’s nomination to be the first female U.S. Attorney General. Normally there is a three-day waiting period before the full Senate can act upon such recommendations, but in this case, the waiting period was waived. Ms. Reno was unanimously (98-0) confirmed yesterday by the full Senate to be U.S. Attorney General. She was sworn-in by Associate Justice of the United States, Byron White. After being sworn-in, she made brief remarks and then introduced members of her family who were attending. close
