Josh Earnest responded to reporters' questions on a variety of topics. He announced that nearly $600 million would be shifted from fighting the Ebola virus to combating the increasing threat of the Zika virus. He called the funding transfer a temporary fix and accused Congress of abdicating its authority to adequately fund the prevention of a widespread outbreak of the Zika virus here in the U.S. Other topics included nomination of Judge Merrick Garland for the Supreme Court, new rules to prevent corporate inversions, the fight against ISIS*, and raising the minimum wage.
