Throughout the program, several interviews taped by C-SPAN between April 25-27, 2016, in Laredo, Texas, were shown. Bradd Skinner talked about the flow and volume of trade at the World Trade Bridge in Laredo. Bob Cash described the initial impact of the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) on the Texas-Mexico border-area and other parts of the state. Alberto Flores explained U.S. Customs and Border Patrol’s efforts to prevent the smuggling of narcotics, people, and weapons of mass destruction into the U.S. Finally, Mexican truck driver Alvaro Gonzalez Jimenez shared his experiences working in the commercial trucking industry.

The entire June 2, 2016, “Washington Journal” program focused on trade and the U.S.-Mexico border, with guests participating from Laredo. close
