National Security Agency (NSA) director Lieutenant General Lew Allen testified for the first time in public before the Senate Select Committee to Study Governmental Operations with Respect to Intelligence Activities, commonly known as the Church Committee. He answered questions about intercepts of international communications of American citizens on “watch lists,” and others suspected of drug trafficking.
