The subcommittee heard testimony on legislation that would stiffen the U.S. immigration policy against fraud and the immigration of terrorists. The hearing came in the wake of the World Trade Center bombing in New York earlier in the year, when a known terrorist was able to enter the country. The hearing also focused on eliminating the immigration of illegal Chinese workers, problems at American ports of entry. close
