Bill Keene talked about Montgomery Meigs' life as a civil engineer in Washington, D.C., as well as his role as Union Quartermaster General during and after the Civil War. Using photographs and blueprints, Mr. Keene talked about Meigs' architectural planning contributions to sites such as the House and Senate wings and dome of the U.S. Capitol building, Arlington Cemetery, and the Pension Building, now the National Building Museum. The presentation also explored the evolution of Union supply lines during the Civil War. close
