Paul Wiedefeld, Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) general manager, testified before a House Oversight and Government Reform subcommittee to provide an update on DC Metrorail’s current maintenance initiative known as SafeTrack. He informed the committee that two independent prosecutors have been appointed to investigate whether Metro workers falsified inspection reports. Mr. Wiedefeld also addressed efforts to eliminate WMATA’s funding gap, reduce train delays, and increase overall ridership.
