Telephone lines were open for viewer calls and social media comments on the question, “What does religious liberty mean to you?” The question was drawn from President’s Trump’s remarks at the National Prayer Breakfast in which he said he “would get rid of and totally destroy the Johnson Amendment and allow our representatives of faith to speak freely and without fear of retribution.” The amendment he referred to was put in place by former Senator and President Lyndon Johnson. It bars tax-exempt charitable groups, which includes churches, from involvement in political activities or endorsing candidates. close
