Retired General David Petraeus talked about the role Iraqi and Afghan translators have played in service to U.S. forces and shared some of his experiences with them throughout his military career. He also commented on how President Trump’s executive order may affect their efforts to settle in the United States. Then two former Iraqi and Afghan nationals who served as translators for U.S. troops shared their combat stories and how they eventually came to live in the U.S. They were joined by a U.S. veteran of the Afghanistan war whose life was saved by one of the interpreters and who started an organization that aims to resettle Iraqi and Afghan translators in the United States.
