Professor Philip Levy talked about archaeological research at the National Park Service site of George Washington’s Virginia birthplace. The research is designed to determine if Washington actually was born there. Professor Levy studies the places associated with George Washington’s life, including his Virginia birthplace. He spoke about the archaeological record at the riverfront land on Virginia’s Northern Neck and the speculation that the National Park Service site was not the birthplace at all. Mr. Levy argued that the 300th anniversary of Washington’s birth in 2032 imposes a sense of urgency to determine exactly where he was born. close
