As the Senate considered Republican health care legislation to replace the Affordable Care Act, telephone lines were open for viewer calls and social media comments on health care and the opioid crisis. Several senators were expected to offer proposals for the bill that would address the opioid situation around the nation. Eliza Collins, speaking by phone, gave an update on the Senate Republican bill.

Throughout the program, Senators Rob Portman (R-OH), Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI), Maggie Hassan (D-NH), and Edward Markey (D-MA), and Representative Hal Rogers (R-KY) and Governor John Sununu (R-NH) were interviewed separately from the Capitol. They described the opioid crisis in their states, with Senator Portman detailing his amendment for opioid addiction services. close
