Senator John Danforth (R-MO), a member of the Senate Finance Committee, discussed the Clinton budget proposal, which would reduce the deficit by approximately $500 billion in the next five years through a combination of tax increases and spending cuts. Senator Danforth and the other eight Republicans on the committee plan to vote against the legislation because they believe the proposal contains too many taxes and too few budget cuts. close
