George Washington University hosted a panel discussion on U.S. policy toward North Korea and its recent nuclear threats. Speakers included several George Washington international affairs professors as well as Robert Gallucci, the chief U.S. negotiator with North Korea during the Clinton administration. Mr. Gallucci outlined various policy options including nuclear containment, diplomatic negotiations, and preemptive military strikes. The panelists also discussed China’s engagement with North Korea and responded to the news of a ballistic missile launch by North Korea over the northern Japanese island of Hokkaido. close
