Members of the U.N. Security Council delivered remarks regarding President Trump’s decision to move the U.S. embassy in Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, and to recognize that city as the Israeli capital. The U.N.'s special coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process told the council before the remarks that the move “could seriously undermine current peace efforts and may have repercussions across the region,” a sentiment echoed by U.S. allies on the Security Council, like the United Kingdom. Following the meeting, Riyad Mansour, the Palestinian ambassador to the U.N. spoke briefly with reporters about President Trump’s decision. close
