Five Cabinet secretaries testified before a Senate panel on the Trump administration’s ten-year $1.5 trillion infrastructure proposal. The plan includes $200 billion in federal funds to spur state, local, and private partners investments; investments in rural areas, particularly broadband Internet access; and would limit federal funding to 20 percent of the overall cost of any given project.

Witnesses included Secretaries Elaine Chao of Transportation, Rick Perry of Energy, Wilbur Ross of Commerce, Sonny Perdue of Agriculture and Alex Acosta of Labor. They addressed a wide range of issues such as public-private partnerships, investments in high speed broadband, streamlining the permitting process, foreign investment and development of rural communities. close
