Secretary Perdue said there was “concern and anxiety” in the farm community over trade disruptions, commodity prices, and recent natural disasters. He said negotiations are the best method for easing trade tensions between the U.S. and China. In addition, Secretary Perdue added that he was pleased with China’s willingness to talk, referring to Chinese President Xi Jinping’s pledge to lower import tariffs on vehicles and other products.
