The Senate Judiciary Committee considered legislation that aims to set requirements and limitations on the removal from office of a special counsel appointed by an attorney general. The Special Counsel Independence and Integrity Act was approved by the committee in a 14-7 vote. Republican Senators Grassley (IA), Graham (SC), Flake (AZ) and Tillis (NC) joined the committee Democrats in voting in favor of sending the bipartisan bill to the full Senate. close
