Ronald Batory, administrator of the Federal Railroad Administration, testified at a Senate Appropriations subcommittee hearing on rail safety across the country. He and his fellow witnesses discussed measures to improve commuter, regional, and freight rail line safety, particularly the progress made in the deployment of positive train control (PTC), an automated system designed to stop trains if certain dangers, such as excessive speed or potential collision, are detected. close
