Not long after midnight on June 5, 1968, Senator Robert F. Kennedy (D-NY) was shot and mortally wounded in the Los Angeles Ambassador Hotel. He had just delivered a victory speech after winning the California presidential primary. He died the next day. On this day, his family gathered at Arlington National Cemetery to mark the 50th anniversary of his assassination. Former President Bill Clinton spoke, along with other dignitaries. The organization founded in 1968 to honor Kennedy’s memory, Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights, hosted this event. close
