Juneau is the capital of Alaska. The capitol building was completed in 1931 and housed the Federal and Territorial government until statehood in 1959. Alaska architect and chair of the Alaska Committee Wayne Jensen toured the building, and explained how it represents the state and its politics.

C-SPAN’s Local Content Vehicles (LCVs) made stops in their “2018 LCV Cities Tour” in Juneau, Fairbanks, and Anchorage, Alaska, from June 17-28, to feature the history and literary life of the communities. Working with the GCI cable local affiliate, they visited literary and historic sites where local historians, authors, and civic leaders were interviewed. The history segments air on American History TV (AHTV) on C-SPAN3 and the literary events/non-fiction author segments air on Book TV on C-SPAN2. close
