Canadian Foreign Minister Chrystia Freeland spoke with reporters as renegotiation of the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) continued between the U.S., Canada, and Mexico. Ms. Freeland said negotiations would continue with the U.S. following the Labor Day holiday, despite President Trump saying he wanted Canada to strike a deal with the U.S. before the holiday weekend. She also fielded questions from reporters on a number of trade topics, including President Trump’s rhetoric surrounding the negotiations, as well as “country of origin” rules affecting automotive manufacturers. close
