The Senate Judiciary Committee held a confirmation hearing to consider several judicial nominees, including Eric Murphy and Chad Readler to sit on the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals. Mr. Murphy was serving as the solicitor general of Ohio, and Mr. Readler previously served as the acting assistant attorney general for the Civil Rights Division. At the start of the hearing, committee members debated the Senate’s “blue slip” policy in which senators from a federal judge nominee’s home states submit confirmation forms. Other nominees were Judge Rossie Alston to serve in the Eastern District of Virginia, Judge Pamela Barker to serve in the Northern District of Ohio, and Sarah Morrison to serve in the Southern District of Ohio. close
