British Prime Minister Boris Johnson and Jeremy Corbyn, the Labour Party leader, debated the state of Brexit negotiations with the European Union. During their remarks in the House of Commons chamber in London, Prime Minister Johnson talked about his recent visit to the G-7 summit in Biarritz, France, and said his discussions with European leaders on the U.K.'s planned exit from the European Union were going well. He said he remained committed to maintaining an October 31, 2019, deadline for the U.K.'s withdrawal from the union. He said a plan backed by Mr. Corbyn to delay Brexit until the end of January 2020 was unacceptable, and warned of a general election if it were to pass the House. Mr. Corbyn, however, challenged the prime minister’s assertions, and said he was skeptical of the status of negotiations with EU leaders. close
