Civil liberties and voting rights organization leaders testified before a House Judiciary subcommittee concerning voting discrimination. Witnesses discussed state voting laws since the 2013 Shelby County v. Holder decision in which the Supreme Court ruled 5-4 that Section 4 of the Voting Rights Act is unconstitutional. Among the witnesses testifying were Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights President Vanita Gupta, NAACP President Derrick Johnson and Public Interest Legal Foundation President J. Christian Adams. close
