Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin announced President Trump had authorized and would be signing an executive order giving the administration “very significant new sanctions authorities that can be targeted at any person associated with the government of Turkey.” Secretary Mnuchin said the sanctions had not yet been activated, but could be used in response to Turkey’s recent military incursion into northeastern Syria, from where U.S. troops had recently been withdrawn. “These are very powerful sanctions.
