Governor Ralph Northam (D) held a briefing on Virginia’s response to the coronavirus pandemic. The governor spoke about new efforts being taken at nursing homes and long-term care facilities, how the state is addressing the growing number of unemployment claims, and new guidelines at state prisons regarding early release of inmates. While talking about the state’s mitigation strategies, Governor Northam stressed the need for more staffing at health care facilities and encouraged those with medical and health care backgrounds to volunteer their time and services. close
