President Trump signed a proclamation to mark the 100th anniversary of the ratification of the 19th Amendment. He was joined by first lady Melania Trump and others. After signing the proclamation on the 19th Amendment, the president responded to a handful of questions from reporters. He talked about former first lady Michelle Obama’s speech during the first night of the Democratic National Convention as well as mail-in balloting, health care, and suburban voters. He also announced he would give a posthumous pardon to suffragist Susan B. Anthony, who was arrested in 1872 for violating laws permitting only men to vote in the presidential election. close
