The House Ways and Means Subcommittee on Select Revenue Measures held a virtual hearing to look at the impact the lack of COVID-19 tax provisions has had on families and small businesses during the pandemic. Discussed during the hearing was the Heroes Act, which was passed by the House in May and contains provisions that would extend unemployment and tax benefits to Americans impacted by the coronavirus pandemic, but has yet to be taken up by the Senate. They also spoke about the increase in food insecurity for families and children, a stagnation in future job growth, how minority communities and low wage earners have been disproportionately impacted by the coronavirus, and that additional money given to the American people would aid in helping the economy rebound.

Due to technical difficulties, this hearing is incomplete. close
