The Senate confirmed two nominations: Kyle Hauptman to be a member of the National Credit Union Administration Board for a term expiring August 2, 2025, and Kathryn Davis for a 15-year term as judge of the U.S. Court of Federal Claims. Members also voted in favor of limiting debate on Christopher Waller’s nomination to be a member of the Federal Reserve Board of Governors. Mark Kelly (D-AZ), who defeated Senator Martha McSally (R-AZ) in a special election to serve out the last two years of the late Senator John McCain’s term, was sworn in. The Senate passed S. 578, the ALS Disability Insurance Access Act, legislation to waive the five-month Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) waiting period for people with Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease. Republican Senators Lamar Alexander TN) and Mike Enzi (WY), who were both retiring, gave their farewell speeches, and several senators paid tribute to them. close
