The mayor was joined by District of Columbia Acting Police Chief Robert Contee, Army Secretary Ryan McCarthy, and other public officials. Secretary McCarthy said a seven-foot, non-scalable fence would be erected around the Capitol grounds and 6,200 National Guard members would be present in the District for at least 30 days.
