Government Accountability Office (GAO) and House of Representatives officials testified at a House Appropriations Subcommittee on the Legislative Branch hearing on the fiscal year 2022 budget requests for the GAO and the House. Gene Dodaro, who leads the GAO, asked for increased funding for technology, cybersecurity, health care spending and maintenance. He also spoke more broadly about the work the GAO does to support the legislative branch. Witness from the House of Representatives spoke about staffing, training, and retention needs as well as how their operations have adapted to the coronavirus pandemic. Acting House Sergeant at Arms Timothy Blodgett also spoke about the ongoing review of the Capitol Police Board in the wake of the January 6 attack on the Capitol. close
