The House Homeland Security Subcommittees on Transportation and Maritime Security and on Cybersecurity, Infrastructure Protection, and Innovation held a joint hearing on cyberthreats and the Colonial Pipeline cyberattack. Several topics were discussed, including the U.S. response to the Colonial Pipeline attack, the importance of not paying ransoms related to cyberattacks, detecting cyber vulnerabilities, and improving cybersecurity and readiness of critical infrastructure, such as the energy grid and nationwide transportation systems. Appearing before the subcommittees were officials from the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) and the Transportation Security Administration (TSA), which is the agency of jurisdiction for pipeline security. close
