President Bill Clinton and First Lady Hilary Clinton, along with leaders from the House and Senate, spoke to members of Congress and honored guests concerning the president’s health securities legislation introduced later in the day. The president made a forceful speech outlining the importance of congressional approval of his health securities legislation. He suggested that congressional battles over the stimulus package and the budget plan should be forgotten so that compromises can be made to bring health care to all Americans. The president stated that it should be everyone’s goal to pass health care reform before the completion of the 103rd Congress. close
