Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) said the recently-leaked Supreme Court draft opinion regarding abortion rights is a “dark and disturbing day for America,” as he and Senate Democrats addressed the press from the steps of the U.S. Capitol. The majority leader placed the blame for this decision “squarely on Senate Republicans, ” and said he intends to hold a vote on the Senate floor to codify abortion rights into law. Several senators joined Leader Schumer at the podium, including Majority Whip and Judiciary Committee Chair Dick Durbin (D-IL) and Health Committee Chair Patty Murray (D-WA). close
